TOPIC: Relationships Australia intercountry adoption counselling services
Join us in August to hear from guest speaker Nikki Hartmann, Program Manager Post Adoption Programs of Relationships Australia (RA). Relationships Australia in South Australia (RASA) have been running Post Adoption Support Services (PASS) since 2006, and are now managing the nationwide service. Over this period, PASS has provided support to both local and intercountry adoptees, adoptive parents and families, and birth parents and families, as well as providing training to allied health professionals about adoption.
Nikki has been working in the service since 2006 managing this program as well as others. Relationships Australia also runs Forced Adoption Support Services, and provide support to those who grew up in out of home care. Whilst there are some different complexities for each of these areas, there are many common themes.
The Intercountry Adoptee and Family Support Service (ICAFSS) practitioners are RA staff members rather than external private providers who are being trained on intercountry adoption which will complement their existing skills and knowledge.
